I regularly build backlinks, post fresh/unique content, and I check Google Analytics/Search Console every few weeks. Reddit is one of my favorite sites for link building.
Forums being user generated content site, it is really difficult to get your users to create search friendly posts. But as a owner and admin, I try yo create search intent topics so that I can get visibility on search engines.
