I have never ran a hosting company but I have been toying about the idea of creating resellar hosting company. I would do it once I manage to get enough funds to run the company for a year.
I think in this day and age it can pretty difficult to get customers. There's lots of hosting companies on the market and they've been around for a while so they're well established and trusted.
Hosting is a good business model but getting customers is certainly difficult in the times where popular web hosts are offering services for cheaper price and better service.
