Some people think forums are dying, and others disagree.

Where do you stand on the issue?

Do you think forums are dying? If yes, how so? If not, how so?

Forums are dying. Forums aren't getting organic activities and traffic, they are not ranking well on searches, and it is really difficult to grow a forum. However, this does not mean "death of forums." Forums still enjoy support, even though it is a small support.

Forum's have been in a stagnant spot for some time now. They went downwards quite a long time ago at this point but the people that enjoy forums have stuck around and anyone that wants to find one is finding it and engaging with the platform.

I think forums are less active than they were in past years. However, I refuse to let my forum die. So no, forums aren't dying as long as we have creative admins that improve their sites as technolagy advances.

Yeah, we can certainly work hard on keeping a forum alive. However, a forum's life is not just depended on keeping it live, it also depends on activities and these days organic activities on forums have almost died.

I think forums are currently depending on those of us who enjoy them. A specific generation of webmasters, those of us who actually started out using the term webmaster instead of creator.

I think when we're all gone, forums will be done.

They don't seem to be making a comeback that can keep them alive.

I don't think they'll die as long as we keep using them. There's even younger people who still are interested in forums over chat clients. I recently seen that people are asking for a forum feature on Root, and every time I see this I mention they should make their own forum and use Root as a way to instantly talk with their community. A few people agreed and I know most people who use the app are about 10 years younger than me and I'm in my 30s. I hope we can see a renaissance of forums again soon.
