When I have the funds to renew Xenforo I like using it otherwise I'm trying to figure out what fits me best currently of the free options. I've tried Flarum but the admin side isn't my favorite. MyBB is okay but I was struggling with setup. I'm currently using phpBB which I think is probably where I'll ultimately land for now.
