Do you see social media as an enemy or a tool to increase conversion? How well did it work for you?

I don't really use social media as a means to promote my site, because I just generally dislike social media and I prefer to advertise on forums of similar niches. I don't think my board would benefit much from advertising on social media anyway, being a resource board for a specific software. Social media is what started to take away message board activity in general, however.

All trolls are now on social media. Easy to vent their frustration.

But I still visit them when I can. It is a good tool for promotion. There are dedicated Social Media managers these days. They really do magic with numbers.

I have a brand called, Hiking with Shawn.

My main platform is Facebook. 36,000+ followers and around 2 mil views a month. I make money with that platforms. I'm also on IG, Threads, YouTube, X, Patreon, Newsletter, and a blog.

It's a whole business now.

Social media works when you build a community on it.

But it's nice to get away from it and enjoy forums once in a while

I've been doing social media for about a year and a half now. Youdbnation is my brand that is a sister business to Virtualpetlist. I create virtual world animations with it.

Social media is a great place for me to utilize my creative and branch out to another horizon.

I've attempted to use social media to promote my forums in the past and I failed at it so I gave up. I think I'm doing it wrong, I would just share links to my communities rather than try and build up a page.
