Exactly. There are people who think forums just went away, but it's actually the people who went away. The forum community didn't change and is still here. It was them that changed and no longer here.
Yep! Though I did get someone to tell me that "there's no point in having forums when Reddit and Discord exist." I chimed in and brought up the ID verification nonsense that's been rolling out on Discord, and how Reddit just isn't suited for research communities and neither is Discord lol.

Platforms like that are no substitute for forums. They are just cheap knockoffs. Those places and social networking is just so toxic. I'm only on Facebook to keep in contact with certain people, otherwise I probably wouldn't use it at all. I use Bluesky, but under my username. I like forums so much better.
