Are you a fan of free forum hosting? Have you used it for your projects before? If so, which host did you go with? When I first got into making my own forums, I used Forumotion. I didn't know what the heck I was doing, and I wasn't familiar with how phpBB worked so I ran into issues setting permissions up for members. xD I think it's fine for those who don't have the money to purchase hosting or software.

I've never used it so I don't have an opinion. I am on one such board, only because they are a competitor, lol. But I started with freeware (Phorum) until it was no longer supported and then understood the benefits of paid, proprietary software and went with Invision. I host them myself on my own domains which I think does lend itself to a more professional appearance.

I use Jcink if that counts and I'm perfectly happy with it since I can manipulate my board however I want with my coding skills and it offers a whole lot of goodies for a free forum host.

You've done great work with the platform I must say!
Do any of these free hosting places allow people to bring their forums from other places...?

As for createmybb, you'd have to convert your forum to MyBB before you're able to convert to their service. I believe Forumotion also allows you to migrate from other software, but you might have to convert to phpBB first. I've never migrated to Forumotion, the only time I moved from one host to another was when I had a forum that ran IPB and I converted over to Jcink since it was cheaper. Ok thanks man I want to keep XenForo so I'll try asking John thank you again?
I used free forum hosting when I first started creating forums. It’s a good way to get started in forums but I prefer paid hosting now for its obvious perks.
InvisionFree and Zetaboards was where it all began for me. Haven't seen any free forum hosting service this good. Although that may be a bit biased. Still, the only thing coming close to InvisionFree is Jcink, which I do recommend.
